Randy Gott

Randy Gott brings more than 20 years of experience to the Southwind team. He leads Southwind's medical staff planning activities with specific areas of expertise in medical staff plan design; physician compensation and incentive plan development; physician recruitment policy, strategy and practice assessment; and health system compensation strategy. Randy provides consulting services to a broad spectrum of clients, including medical groups, hospitals involved in practice acquisitions and not-for-profit organizations wishing to employ physicians. His expertise has been beneficial for numerous Southwind clients across the country, including:
- A five hospital health system in the Northeast, where he completed a physician needs assessment and designed a physician recruitment plan, recruitment policy and implementation strategy;
- A Midwestern health system, where he completed a fair market value review of the medical directorships and employed physician compensation plan; and
- A multi-hospital health system in the Southeast, including several rural hospitals and two tertiary centers, where he led and completed a physician needs assessment.
Randy is a nationally recognized expert in physician manpower planning for health systems. In late 2005 and early 2006, he served as an expert to the law firm representing Alvarado Hospital, located in San Diego, (United States v. Barry Weinbaum, Tenet Health System Hospitals, Inc., Alvarado Hospital Medical Center, Inc.) that was prosecuted by the U.S. Department of Justice on charges that the hospital violated federal anti-kickback laws related to physician recruitment arrangements on behalf of existing medical practices. The case focused attention on the legality of practices hospitals commonly use to provide physician recruitment assistance to recruited physicians and affiliated medical practices.
Randy is also a national speaker and author of numerous articles on medical staff issues such as physician recruitment, physician manpower planning and physician retention and is often quoted in healthcare publications. He holds a BA from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee in Communications and Education and is pursuing a Masters in Conflict Management at Lipscomb University.
